Happy Birthday Jim!!

I am so glad to hear about your party. There aren’t words to express how much I owe you for providing my musical college career (47 years now at Eastern Michigan University). The memories and experiences I have from working with and learning from you are endless. I will never forget my first Ithaca College Faculty Brass Quintet concert as a GA and walking on the stage with the wrong trumpet or when you insisted that I could keep my recital hall graduate recital reservation even though that put the Suzuki workshop in the band room.   I was so green and inexperienced going to IC.  I still look back and wonder what on earth I was doing there.  My respect for you and for all that you are, great trumpet player, teacher, scholar, leader, person, family man, all that you represent, is boundless and I count myself very fortunate to have had the privilege of having you as my teacher. You are the best and I wish you all the best.
