It’s been a while since we played together in the 9th Division Band, and were part of a small group of young married folks together in that situation.  At the time, I admired your scholarly approach to trumpet and music, and knew it would serve you well in the future.  While I moved on to architecture, I’m proud that our son David joined you in the academic world of music.

Edith and I have managed to see you over the years in Ithaca, Dallas, and Seattle – where your daughter Karen moved in up the street!  We hope to meet again sometime in Portland where we now live, and this photo was taken.  Opposite David and beside us is his good friend, Dean Willoughby, who builds trumpets at David Monette.  Have you tried one?

We are missing an important member of that early group with the passing of Glenn Jaquith this year, but Judy was glad to hear of your celebration, and I’m sure will be sending you a greeting also.

Take care, and all the best!  Dale and Edith Dzubay
