The big “8O” slipped up on us quickly it seems. It doesn’t seem like it’s been long since you were playing the “Sugar Blues” at the Augie Viking Varieties Show as a freshman! One other memorable event was going to your farm and getting a pig for the All Nations Christmas Festival (England booth). We ‘hog tied’ the pig and put him in the trunk of your Packard!! Your dad stood there with tears in his eyes laughing at the whole process. We delivered the pig to John Morrell & Co. who later delivered it to Dickenson Bros. Bakery, who later delivered it to Augustana with a big red apple in its mouth.
I always loved to hear you play the trumpet….you had great tone and all the skills to go with it!
Enjoy this event with family and friends, we’ll be thinking of you!
I’ve always valued your friendship!
